If one wanted to listen to some British music they were unfamiliar with, but didn't have time to make a nice playlist, where would they go? Thinking of rap, drum & bass, post-dubstep or whatever. Anyone have a mixcloud/soundcloud link or something?

soundcloud seems like a good place to search, I know DJs usually post sets to there.

Yeah, but sometimes I find it difficult to discover things there unless I am first placed on the right track...

Yeah sorry, can't help much with that. I'm not familiar with much in those genres.

Me neither. I got a co-worker to help me. I am very much disconnected from this type of music, but I used to listen to a lot of new stuff and I've just been too busy lately. But I realized I miss finding new things.

Yes, Chvrches ARE good! I've not listened to Massive Attack, I'll try them out next. Currently listening to Chase & Status.

Did you watch House? Intro is Massive Attack.

Seen The Matrix? Song playing while Neo is asleep at his computer with headphones on is also Massive Attack.

They did the Danny The Dog/Unleashed soundtracks.

One of the seminal Trip-Hop/Downtempo bands around.

Oh. Teardrop, by Massive Attack. I do have an album of theirs, then. Completely forgot they wrote it, though.

Here are some suggestions. Be warned that the genres are approximate and you may not agree with how I classify things.

The Streets - rap
Katy B - dance
Chloe Howl - pop
Pendulum - rock

The BBC lets you stream online. I listen to Radio 1 at work. It is mostly pop, but later in the day their night shows start coming on and it gets more into the dance and "other" categories. You can also listen to previously played shows for about a week after they air if you dig around. I used to listen to the morning show when it was Chris Moyles & company. Poke around the BBC website and you can probably find some shows that would interest you. Radio 1Xtra is their RnB, hip-hop and new & emerging artist site.

I'm way too much of a fan of the Europop, but listening to Radio 1 lets me hear stuff that I wouldn't hear otherwise. Plus sometimes I pick up a little bit of Euro news and world news from a non-American perspective which is sort of interesting.

I don't really stick to genres as a rule, I just stay away from contemporary country. I don't even know the proper names for the genres I'm looking for.

I used to listen to BBC radio, but most of the time when I listen it's too poppy for me. I should go back to digging around their site though.

I was actually listening to Katy B a few minutes ago. Good stuff there. Can't complain about the way she looks either. I think I've heard The Streets, but will look up the other two. Thanks!
